VALERIE MASTERS

Celebrating Valerie's extensive music and stage career

FINDING VALERIE'S RECORDS

Most of Valerie's records are extremely hard to find these days, and there is no dedicated CD available that contains all of Valerie's songs.

Some songs are, however, available for MP3 download, such as "Banjo Boy" and "Somewhere over the rainbow", which can be found on Amazon. Also, "Christmas Calling" and "He didn't fool me" are on the Joe Meek Girls compilation album shown below. "Somewhere over the rainbow" can also be found on the compilation CD "Moon River and other great hits".

Of Valerie's records which can be found, "Birmingham Rag" is often available on such sites as Ebay, or from specialist record suppliers. However, many of Valerie's other records are rarely found on sale, so it is very difficult to obtain a copy, especially in good condition.

Two of Valerie's records also attract very high prices, these being "Christmas Calling" and "Don't ever go".  In 2012, "Christmas Calling" was on sale on Ebay for around £100, and "Don't ever go" was sold for £123 in January, 2015, and in 2014 was sold for over £200, which reflect that they are both rare and excellent records, and are much sought after by record collectors!

In April, 2016, "Don't ever go" was sold for £164 on Ebay, proving that Valerie's records are still highly collectable! Valerie is very pleased to know that her great music still attracts such high prices!

In June, 2017, "Don't ever go" is now being advertised for £750 on the Music Stack Web Site!

The very rare "Don't ever go" on Polydor Records also has the excellent "Say hello" on the B side, which was favoured as a playlist item by radio stations, and is one of Valerie's best recordings.

Other sources of Valerie's records include the magazine "Record Collector" and vinyl record specialists, where it is possible to buy records from the 1950s and 1960s, but many of these records are rarely found in good condition now, and those in good condition attract high prices. Below is a very rare picture sleeve on Fontana in Mono for Valerie's "Banjo boy":-

VALERIE MASTERS

JEROME KERN - RAY ELLINGTON

Valerie recorded some excellent songs with Ray Ellington, on the album "Jerome Kern Spectacular", including "The last time I saw Paris",  "I won't dance",  "A fine romance", and  "They didn't believe me"  on a World Record Club, (T207), disc, as can be seen below. This record demonstrates Valerie's vocal versatility, and the songs on this album are all wonderful versions:-
